A dinner under the Hunter’s Moon with Moon Curser & Chef Murray McDonald
The Moon Curser name plays tribute to the gold smuggling history of Osoyoos. The Moon Curser wines, however, show no such respect for tradition – the winery is well known for growing unusual varieties to the Okanagan.

We have planned a fun moonlit event around the Hunter’s Moon.

A walk along a forest path what can your forage and eat?  Then we have a whole Vancouver Island venison for the forest table feast. We finish in ‘The Dead of Night‘, under the light of the Hunter’s Moon on the rooftop with carnival-inspired pastry delights.

One of our favourite winemakers, Howard Soon of Vanessa Vineyard is a living legend and has now been recognized by the entire country receiving the Order of Canada this year.

“Created in 1967, the Order of Canada is one of our country’s highest honours” according to the Governor Generals’ website. “Presented by the Governor General, the Order honours people whose service shapes our society’ whose innovations ignite our imaginations, and whose compassion unites our communities.”

We are recognizing this incredible winemaker with a dinner created by Chef Murray MacDonald celebrating Canada paired with wine from Vanessa Vineyards and Howard Soon.

The menu takes the diner from coast to coast with a stop in between giving Chef MacDonald and his team lots of opportunity to play in the kitchen with the seasons and the geography of the country.

Welcome to the Journey of the Four Food Chiefs, inspired by the story of the land, Chef McDonald guides you through a culinary fusion combining land and sea and worlds old and new.

Led by Chef McDonald this storied culinary experience will present Four Inspired Food Stations each paying tribute to one of the Four Food Chiefs.

  • Ntytikxw (Salmon)-Salmon, Ceviche, BC Oysters OH MY!!
  • Skimxist (Bear)-chat with Chef McDonald over an open fire while he prepares Fire Roasted Bison and Elk
  • Speetlum (Bitterroot)-The Nod to “Three Sisters”
  • Seeya (Saskatoon Berry)- celebrating Okanagan Berries with Indigenous inspired desserts
